What to check before you buy
Request the Land Registry extract (nota simple) to confirm ownership and any charges, check which business activity the premises are licensed for and the condition of the installations, and work out the cost of the purchase: taxes, notary, registry and the owners' association fees. If the premises are currently let, review the lease in force: it may mean income from day one.
